Inspection and Certification Center at Baddi

With the financial assistance of MoRTH, the Transport Department is in the process of establishing a Modal of “Inspection and Certification Center” at Baddi, District Solan at a cost of ₹ 20 Cr. { ₹16.35 Cr. (Centre Share) + ₹3.65 Cr. (State Share) } which is going to be completed very shortly. This will be an Automated Testing Centers for fitness of vehicles through automated equipment for grant of Certificate of Fitness.

The work was started on 20th March, 2020 and 85 to 90% of its work has been completed.

Vehicle Location Tracking Device (VLTD)

The Transport Department has established a Command and Control Center for effective implementation of Vehicle Location Tracking Device (VLTD) in the Directorate of Transport by entering into an agreement with C-DAC in the year 2021. As per the Notification issued by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways(MoRTH) dated 31-10-2018 regarding fitment of vehicles Location Tracking Device and Panic Buttons, all the public service vehicles registered on and after 1st January, 2019 have to be fitted with VLTD and Panic Buttons. These devices will also be fitted in the vehicles registered up to 31-12-2018 in due course of time.

VLTD and emergency button will be very helpful for raising alert in case of any emergency for the safety of passengers especially for children and women. In order to ensure the safer travelling for the passengers and providing them real time emergency response support system, the Command and Control Centre has been integrated with ERSS-112 Himachal Pradesh is the first State in India to have VLTD integration with ERSS-112. Under ERSS, all the Police Stations vehicles in the State are fitted with GPS system and as and when any complaint is received in the control room, irrespective of territorial jurisdiction of a particular Police Station, alert will be sent to the nearest Police vehicle of the location of incident.
